Classes at the Velodrome Gym

We are excited to be growing our timetabled classes here at the Velodrome Gym. We have had lots of feedback from our members about having access to classes, and we are starting with two options for strength-based classes with coach Jesse.

To join these classes, you will purchase a 10-class concession card.

  • Adult: $150.00 for 10 classes

  • High School: $100.00 for 10 classes

Women’s Strength Class: Tuesdays at 6:30-7:30 am

A supportive, 1-hour strength training class designed specifically for women. This session focuses on building full-body strength using weights, improving technique, and increasing confidence in the gym. With a welcoming and encouraging environment, the class is suitable for a range of fitness levels and can be tailored to individual needs. Ideal for those wanting to feel stronger, more capable, and energised for the day ahead.

Open Strength Class: Thursdays at 6:30-7:30 am

A 1-hour full-body strength class open to everyone. This session uses weights and structured programming to build strength, improve movement quality, and enhance overall fitness. Suitable for all levels, with options to progress or scale exercises as needed. A great way to start the day with focused training in a motivating group setting

About your coach - Jesse

Jesse joined the Grassroots Trust Velodrome as part of the reception team and has recently expanded into a trainer role in our Community Gym. He moved to Cambridge in 2023 to pursue his goals and train as a professional BMX racer. 

Jesse has been in the gym since the age of 14 and has studied with the New Zealand Institute of Health and Fitness, with a strong interest in strength training and athletic performance. 

Jesse runs two strength classes each week in the Velodrome Gym (Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 6:30am) and provides both Personal Training and Programming. For more info about what Jesse offers, send him an email.

Active Agers Program

Senior Spin

Our senior spin class with Pamela takes place in the centre of our world-class velodrome! Tuesday and Friday mornings from 8:30 - 9:30 am. A low-impact way to get a great workout while becoming part of the community. Read more here

Eastside Boxing at the Velodrome

A community-based boxing gym which offers a safe, fun environment to train. No matter what stage you are in your fitness journey, or if you want to box competitively, we have the class for you. Read more here

Sports Teams & Group Training Sessions

Bring your team in and train in a world-class space built for performance. Our facility is ideal for local sports teams, schools and clubs looking to train together in an environment that inspires performance.

You can book the gym for your own sessions, with rates available on request, or work with us to create sport-specific group training designed around your season, goals and athletes. We have worked with a number of school and sporting groups to develop fitness, strength, confidence and social connection.
