Activating Abilities Expo 2026

Abilities in action. Possibilities for everyone.

The Activating Abilities Expo, held at the Grassroots Trust Velodrome in Cambridge is all about promoting services and raising awareness that support people with impairments, disabilities, alternative needs, or mobility challenges to live active lifestyles.

Open to the public, the Expo runs Friday 7 August (10am–4pm) and Saturday 8 August (10am–2pm), featuring inclusive Have a Go experiences that encourage everyone (including able-bodied participants) to try activities, build understanding, and see ability from a new perspective.

Across both days, enjoy hands-on experiences such as wheelchair BMX, wheelchair basketball, trikes, tandem riding on the velodrome, gym classes, and more, alongside opportunities to meet service providers and discover pathways to participation.

This year, the Expo will span across two days providing the opportunity for school groups to attend and get involved with the Have-a-go sessions. If you are interested in bringing a group along or hosting a stall, please email events@velodrome.nz.
