The 2026 Plus Finance & Investments Battle of the Schools was an outstanding day of racing, with 185 students representing 25 schools from across the Waikato and beyond.

Competing in 55 teams across the full race programme, students from Years 5–13 took to the track to challenge themselves, support their teammates, and proudly represent their schools. For many, it was their first experience of track cycling and their first time racing in front of a crowd, making the day a huge personal achievement regardless of the final results.

From close finishes and exciting relay races to first-time riders stepping well outside their comfort zones, the event showcased the courage, teamwork, sportsmanship, and school pride that Battle of the Schools is all about.

Events like this wouldn't be possible without the incredible support of our schools, teachers, volunteers, officials, coaches, families, and sponsors. Thank you to everyone who played a part in creating such a memorable experience for our young riders.
