Battle of the Schools is BACK for 2026!
Plus Mortgage Trust Battle of the Schools is a high energy track cycling series that brings secondary and higher primary school students together at the Grassroots Trust Velodrome for fast racing, team spirit, and plenty of noise from the sidelines. Riders race for their school across a range of events and categories, earning points and building momentum as the competition unfolds.
Designed for both new and experienced riders in school years 5-13, Battle of the Schools is about getting students on the track, having a go, and representing their school in a supportive but competitive environment.
In the lead up to race day, riders train for 6-weeks with qualified coaches to help along the way. No previous experience is necessary, and all riding equipment is supplied. On race day, we all come together for an exciting event, with face painting, food trucks, a kid's room and more.

Cambridge Cycling Festival offer
We’re excited to partner with the Cambridge Cycling Festival to give Battle of the Schools teams another chance to race together.
Register your team for Battle of the Schools before 1 April and you will receive a free entry into the Cambridge Cycling Festival Battle of the Schools Relay Race. Once you complete your Battle of the Schools registration, you’ll be sent a code to use when entering the festival event.
The relay race is a great opportunity for teams to test their teamwork and experience racing on the road as part of one of Cambridge’s most popular cycling events.
