How do you play?
Pickleball is a fun and easy to learn paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. It is played on a court similar in size to a badminton court, with a net across the middle. Players use paddles to hit a lightweight plastic ball over the net, either in singles or doubles.
The game begins with an underhand serve hit diagonally into the opponent’s service box. Each side must let the ball bounce once before returning it, known as the “two bounce rule.” After that, players can either volley the ball in the air or play it after a bounce.
There is also a no volley zone near the net, often called “the kitchen,” where players cannot hit the ball out of the air. This helps keep the game strategic and accessible for all skill levels.
Points can only be scored by the serving team, and games are typically played to 11 points, with a two point lead needed to win. Pickleball is social, fast paced and suitable for players of all ages and abilities.
