Community Gym Rules

Entry to Grassroots Trust Velodrome Community Gym is based on your full agreement with these General Rules, which have been designed with everyone’s safety and comfort in mind.

Management reserves the right to refuse entry to any person, and to remove from the premises, without refund, any person who violates any of the conditions listed below.

General Rules

  • All members are required to watch the Gym & Infield Induction Video (below)

  • Barefoot training is prohibited. Closed-toed shoes to be worn at all times in the gym.

  • Please be considerate of all other members and when classes are starting. 

  • No photographs - please respect everyone's privacy. Do not take photographs or videos without permission.

  • No children under the age of 14 are allowed in the gym except with an HOC approved coach.

  • Bars loaded with upwards of 5kg plates should not be dropped from any height.

  • Bars should be loaded with big plates first when using multiple weights.

  • Personal belongings and equipment must not be left or stored in the Infield, except in the designated shelves

  • Press one of the panic buttons to notify reception in case of emergency and then use the phone to dial 111 (if required)

  • In the case of a fire, find the nearest emergency exit and proceed to the main carpark (gate 2)

Access & Timing

  • You must come to reception on arrival and get checked in with a staff member before entering the infield area.

  • You must remain in the gym space only, do not access the rider areas

  • Toilets and showers are located through the entry doors at the end of the corridor on the left.

  • You are welcome to use the facility between 6am and 9pm (weekdays), 7.30am-4pm (Saturday), and 8.30am-4pm (Sunday), unless you are on the off-peak membership. Please start to wrap up your workout in the gym half an hour before closing.

Facility Health & Safety

  • There are panic buttons located by the spin bikes, on the ledge of the roller door ramp, and the bench press. Please press either of these in an emergency to notify our staff.

  • First aid kit is located against the far wall in the shelf (near the assault bikes).

  • There is a defibrillator located in the infield on the centre stand, in reception, and in the tunnel.

  • Please use collars on all bars when lifting.

  • Please make sure you have a spotter or someone nearby when lifting heavy.

  • Shoes and shirts must be worn in the gym space.

  • No photographs or videos are allowed in the gym without prior permission.

  • Please do not ride your bike down the tunnel. The tunnel is narrow with blind corners.

Cleaning & Maintenace

  • Please clean up after yourself by putting the weights and equipment away and wiping down the benches and other equipment.

  • If there are any maintenance problems, please record these in the book located on the bench above the first aid kit. Otherwise please notify reception on your way out.

  • Please be mindful of how much chalk you use and try not to clap your hands with it all through the gym.

  • Please clean muddy/grassy shoes outside before entering the velodrome gym area.

Extras

  • Bands are located at reception if you wish to utilise them.

  • You are not allowed to bring your own speaker. Headphones are welcome.

  • Boxing ring and bags are always out of bounds, unless you are doing the class.
