A minimum of 5 riders is required to run each session.
Please note: Children must be 135 m in height and at least 10 years old to ride the track at the Grassroots Trust Velodrome.

April 2022 School Holiday Sessions
During these school holidays come and experience our unique holiday sessions, from the 19th-28th of April, at the Grassroots Trust Velodrome. No matter your skill level everyone is welcome to join, from complete beginners through to the more experienced.
If you have never ridden on the Grassroots Trust Velodrome and want to give it a try, then you can absolutely come along. We are offering our Junior Learn to Ride sessions, and this is a great place for kids to start their track cycling journey. They will be coached towards becoming competent to ride our track. We also have a range of other sessions for already accredited riders!
Please also remember to bring a snack and water – it’s hard work!
*Please note, participation in this programme does not guarantee that the riders will become competent to ride the track (accredited). We will do everything to try and make this possible but sometimes it just takes longer for certain people dependant on their skill, confidence, and fitness level.
Learn to Ride
When: Tuesday 19th April to Friday 22nd April – 4pm – 5:30pm
What: Our Learn to Ride programme is where kids start their track cycling journey. Here they will be coached towards becoming competent to ride our track
Cost: $70 per person - this includes hire bike
Who for: non-accredited kids (aged 10-18)
Note:
- Maximum number of riders = 15
- For non-accredited kids only
- You must book for the 4 days. Sorry, roll up and ride not allowed
- Ensure riders are wearing tops that cover their shoulders, singlets are not permitted
- Please note, participation in this programme does not guarantee that the riders will become competent to ride the track (accredited). We will do everything to try to make this possible but sometimes it just takes longer for different people dependant on their skill, confidence, and fitness level
Junior Have-a-Go (1.5hrs)
When: Tuesday 19th April 10:00am – 11:30pm and Tuesday 26th April 10:00am – 11:30am
What: A chance to come and try the track under the supervision of one of our experienced coaches
Who for: Only for non-accredited kids (aged 10-18)
Cost: $25 per person
Note:
- Maximum number of riders = 15
- For non-accredited kids only
- Book ahead to avoid disappointment
- Ensure riders are wearing tops that cover their shoulders, singlets are not permitted
- Bike and helmet supplied
Specialist Block
When: Tuesday 26th April to Thursday 28th April – 4pm – 6pm
What: A 3 day block of sessions where we will look at different skills each day to improve your track riding and racing experience.
Day 1 will include Sprint and Endurance work where you’ll gain some technical and tactical knowledge as well as being put through your paces (with some special guest coaches)
Day 2 will include a Derny session
Day 3 will include gate starts and timed efforts to pit yourself against your peers (with some special guest coaches)
Cost: $75 per person
Who for: Accredited riders only, ideally (but not limited to) riders in the 13 – 17 year old age bracket. This is a fabulous opportunity to get some higher level coaching with some fabulous guest coaches

Junior Sprint Session
When: Friday 22nd April – 10:00am – 12:00pm and/or Thursday 28th April 10:00am – 12:00pm
What: A 2 hr Sprint session for juniors with special guest coaches. They will give you tips on how to improve your sprinting, your tactics, and your preparation – definitely not to be missed!
Who for: Accredited riders up to the age of 19
Cost: $20 per person per session or $25 per person per session if they require a hire bike

- For accredited riders only
- Book ahead to avoid disappointment
Fitness Session
When: Wednesday 20th April 10:00am – 11:30am and/or Wednesday 27th April – 10:00am – 11:30am
What: A coached fitness session for junior riders of all abilities
Who for: Accredited riders only
Cost: $15 per person per session or $20 per person per session if they require a hire bike
